Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to understand the sheer level of chaos and just throws its hands up, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping mechanism.

But then, you suddenly become aware that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain bad. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a wistful, melancholic sound.

Ultimately, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?

Or were we just all part of a grand, cosmic prank?

The tsunami struck with devastating force, destroying entire villages in its path. Buildings collapsed like house of cards, and the chaos that followed was deafening. Dreadful Day Ever

It all started with a case of uncontrollable hair. I couldn't do it to look right. As I was getting ready out the door, I fell and landed all over the floor. To make matters worse, I was totally running behind for a very important appointment.

A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to throw your hands up.
